EUCAST projects on disk diffusion AST

EUCAST invites laboratories to participate in the development and validation of the EUCAST disk diffusion method. Specific projects are described below. Laboratories interested in collaborating in these projects can register their interest via the web-based form (link from individual projects). Each project will be limited in time and in the number of participating laboratories.

EUCAST/ECDC project to establish inhibition zone diameter ECOFFs for Campylobacter jejuni and C. coli and for Salmonella spp.

The aim of the project is to establish zone diameter ECOFFs for Campylobacter jejuni and C. coli and for Salmonella spp. by collecting data from voluntary laboratories. To establish an ECOFF for an organism-antimicrobial agent combination, data from at least 300 isolates from at least three different test sites are needed. If data is not reproducible between the test sites, more data is needed. We wish for inhibition zones from at least 25-50 routine isolates per laboratory. All participating laboratories must strictly adhere to the EUCAST disk diffusion methodology. Before submission of data for routine isolates, each participating laboratory must submit relevant quality control (QC) data.

Instructions for data submission for Campylobacter jejuni and/or C. coli and for Salmonella spp. and forms for data submission are presented separately here.

The deadline for submission of QC data is 16 May 2014.
The deadline for submission of data for routine isolates is 16 September 2014.
